2021 Ford F150 Spy Photos
2021 Ford F150 Spy Photos is an essential model in Ford’s portfolio, being a cash-cow for the automaker while leading in sales year after year. Ford will likely aim for both the Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500, which both recently released updated models. That means there could be a massive upgrade inside as Ford takes aim at Ram’s plush interiors, including Ram’s massive 12.0-inch infotainment display.

The headlight design/signature is partially visible in some of these photos, too. It’s difficult to tell much from the projectors other than the LED style. A vertical stack design is visible, but we assume Ford will make some rather obvious changes to differentiate it from the current truck. Time will tell, as Ford eventually peels the camouflage back on this truck.
What we see is a SuperCab F-150 wearing heavy camouflage. It appears the F-150 retains the truck’s basic shape as there aren’t too many ways to slice a pickup truck, so this isn’t a surprise. owever, we can’t tell how much the design will change compared to the current model. The disguise makes it hard to observe explicit styling subtleties. However, we can see additional camouflage atop the side mirrors and the strange spoiler seen on an earlier test mule returns. We’re still uncertain if it’s a testing tool or a spoiler to improve fuel efficiency.
A second F-150 pictured here is a big Crew Cab with four full-size doors. This particular truck looks like a lower-spec model, as it’s sporting old-style halogen bulbs. Just like the other truck and the ones before it, Ford has that neat roof spoiler tacked on. Nothing about these trucks indicate any revolutionary styling changes. We’re fine with that, because the F-150 is one of the better looking full-size trucks on the market today. However, massive powertrain changes are coming for some versions of the F-150, as a hybrid and fully-electric version of the truck are confirmed to debut for this next-generation.
2021 Ford F150 Interior
What is sure to change with the F-150 update is the interior. Fiat Chrysler put all truckmakers on notice with the release of the plush 2018 Ram 1500, and its competitors are scrambling to bring their interiors up to the same level of refinement and detail.
Look closely to find an additional piece of camo added to the driver’s door, which is used to cover up what appears to be a dip in the door sill a character trait that exists on the current F-150, too. This test vehicle wears a set of larger wheels (presumably 22-inch) that are likely to grace the upper trim levels in the family, such as the Platinum. And if youre wondering what the scoop at the back of the cab is, our best guess is that its a roof-mounted spoiler put in place to improve fuel economy. Though, it could also be a piece of equipment used exclusively on test vehicles.

To try to shed some light on the discrepancy, we ran the numbers with and without the prefixes from the tag on the lighter-duty unit-reading either “XCW43909” or “XCW48909,” depending the quality of your monitor-through a Ford parts search and an internet search engine, but neither returned a hit. This means little on its own and these could very likely be current production units, but considering the long-running rumor of a new Ford 4.8-liter V-8 arriving in 2020 or 2021 to replace the current 5.0-liter V-8, we shouldn’t rule out additional powertrain changes under the skin.
After first seeing it mentioned in a report by Reuters in late 2016 detailing Ford’s deal with the UAW, we haven’t heard much additional information about the 4.8-liter V-8’s development. We also expect to see a plug-in-hybrid variant of the new F-150, and independent rear suspension has also been rumored.
An all-electric F-150, as well as a hybrid model, are also currently in development. In fact, we’ve recently seen the electric pickup in development testing, using the current gens exterior shell. Its not confirmed yet, as to whether or not these models will debut with the next generation of the truck.
